What it is.
With Xaelander, you can finally bridge the gap between tracking hardware and content creation apps (such as Maya, 3DMax, or After Effects). Gain multiple point or 6DOF position-rotation channels with absolute, fluid control.-
More, Better, Faster.
Whether you are in film, gaming, military, sports, or medical industries, M4U's desktop motion capture solutions free you to do more and more affordably. Say goodbye to hours of tedious keyframing with Xaelander. -
Motion Capture
Also known as mocap, describes the process of recording movement and translating that onto a digital model. In recent years, Its use has become more prominent in the film industry, however, it denotes any movement that's digitized; from simple balls to complex bodies. -
6DOF
Six degrees of freedom means you have the ability to move objects simultaneously in translation (x,y,z) and rotation (pitch, yaw, roll). -
Plug-in System
As the industry and tools evolve, Xaelander continues to bridge the gap with its unique plug-in design, enabling your software to keep the same calibration and control across all apps. We already support several of the more popular animation development tools and continue to expand to more packages as they are requested.
-
Universal Support
Designed to be future-proof, Xaelander can accommodate virtually any hardware. While current support primarily spans the X-Series infrared cameras, support for other commercially available hardware can be added upon request. -
2 Cam Freedom
Large mocap systems require a minimum of three cameras. Xaelander breaks that barrier requiring only two cameras to resolve 6DOF mocap. Only M4U provides this unique solution at affordable cost to the desk where you work.

M4U Manager
The manager takes you step-by-step through setup. You can diagnose, calibrate, and test different tracking tools as well as manage your licenses. Well documented, the manager's ease-of-use allows even novices to troubleshoot their setup quickly. -
M4U Channel Plug-ins
The M4U Channel plugins are structured to use the host application's internal process for channel motion capture. Maya® provides a device editor that can handle channel data to do motion capture. 3D Studio Max® has a built in mouse, joystick and midi motion capture interface. Side Effects® Houdini® supports mouse motion capture through a so called CHOP (Channel Operator). We have created our own CHOP into Houdini® that works just like the existing mouse capture CHOP. That means that the M4U Channel plug ins don't interfere with the users regular workflow. In all applications supported by M4U Channel plug ins the user can refer to the host application's manuals for trouble-shooting the motion capture procedure.
Autodesk® - Maya®
In Maya® we created a M4U Shelf with buttons to conveniently rig and un-rig geometry , set motion scaling and offset.Autodesk® - 3D Studio Max®
In 3D Stuidio Max® we added the M4U Motion Capture Device that is used exactly like the existing mouse, joystick or midi motion capture device.Adobe® - After Effects
In After Effects, your 6DOF device communicates directly to AE attributes allowing you move objects in 3D space with effortless, natural motion.
